Worldwide Wired High Speed Internet Speeds and Costs
Every year, comparison website Cable.co.uk, publishes a report comparing the speed of high-speed internet around the world. The 2020 ranking has just been published.
New Caledonia has quadrupled its speed in the last year and has gained 28 spots in the world ranking as a result, according to website www.cable.co.uk.
According to the last ranking published by British internet comparison website www.cable.co.uk, New Caledonia is ranked 91st out of 221 countries when it comes to average speed. New Caledonia has gained 28 spots since the 2019 ranking was published.
These gains are the result of The Very High-Speed Strategy which has been implemented for several years by the OPT-NC to benefit New Caledonian internet users.
The generalization of the OPTimo fibre offering, which grants access to speeds of 100 Mb/s to individuals as well as the creation of a 1Gb/s business offering, and the decrease in prices charged to ISP have enabled a significant improvement in wired internet speeds from 4,34 Mb/s to 15,15 Mb/s on average.
In Oceania, New Caledonia is ranked just behind New Zealand (23rd at 66,66 Mb/s) and Australia (62nd at 25,65 Mb/s).
